Recently, I was reminded of a great way to access military records. Not only can veterans access their military records, they can download their records, update DEERS information, view the status of their claims with the VA, view the VA payment history, and access myriad other features.
Ebenefits is a web portable designed specifically for veterans. I have used it, and strongly encourage others, for retrieving copies of my military service and medical records. Imagine not having to complete and mail the SF 180 to the National Records Center. Just click and download the documents you want. No longer are veterans required to wait.
The web address is on the logo above. Instead of accessing eBenefits through that, I access the link through My HealtheVet. The latter is maintained by the VA. I use My HealtheVet for tracking all my healthcare, requesting appointments, communicating with my VA Primary Care Provider electronically, and reordering my prescriptions.
Veterans wanting to access My HealtheVet should go to www.myhealth.va.gov. Look for the eBenefits logo under the registration link on the right side of the page. Simply click on the link to setup an account. After the account is setup, veterans can access their records.
